Tarikh-i-Mubarak Shahi
Tarikh - i -Mubarak Shahi • The book begins with an account of the rise of the Kingdom of Ghor in the 12th Century A.D under Sultan Baha - ud -din Sam, the nephew of Sultan Ala- ud -din Jahan Soz . • This was the work of Ahmad Sirhindi , it is an important source of the Sayyid Dynasty during the 15 th Century. • It gives a brief account of the earlier Sultan of Delhi. • It mainly deals with the military and political activities of the Sayyid rulers. Like other sources, it too serves as an important source of information of medieval Indian History . • The Tarikh-i-Mubarakshahi by Yahiya Bin Ahmad Bin Abdullah Sirhindi was written originally into Persian. The present book is a translation of the original Persian work by H. Beveridge . It is regarded as a standard and authoritative translation of the original Persian work. Al Biruni’s Tarikh-ul-Hind
Al Biruni’s Tarikh - ul -Hind • Al Biruni was a prominent Muslim ideologist and one of the greatest intellectuals of the 11 th Century. He was a theologian, philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, etc. • He accompanied Mahmud of Ghazni on his expedition to India. Besides, he travelled the land, studied the Sanskrit language , religion, and philosophy of Indians. • He even translated two Sanskrit works into Arabic. • He wrote the classics account of the country and its people in Arabic, entitled “ Tarikh - ul -Hind” (An Enquiry into India), which was later translated into Persian. • It dealt with the affairs of India when Sultan Mahmud Invaded to India. • This work serves as an important source of information on the socio-religious condition of India during the time of Mahmud of Ghazni . Khazain-al Futuh
Khazain -al Futuh/ Tarikh-i-Ilahi • Written by Amir Khusrov , was a contemporary to all Sultans of Delhi from Jalaludheen Khilji to Muhammed bn Tughluq . • He was an Indian scholar. He has to his credit about half a dozen historical works. • He adorned the courts of all the Sultans from Balban to Ghiasuddin Tughla as the poet laureate. • Also, he was more popularly known as Tuti -e-Hind (The parrot of India). • As he was an eye witness of most of the happenings his narrative work is of great value . Tarikh-i-Firoz Shahi
Tarikh-i-Firoz Shahi • Barani is the greatest of all the contemporary historians of early medieval India, was an exact contemporary of Ghiyasudheen Tughlaq . • In fact, Barani was famous as the elites of the Delhi Sultanate. • His work, Tarikh-i-Firoze Shahi preserves the history of the Delhi Sultanate for one full Century (from the 1250s-1350s). • Work started with Balban and came down to the 6 th year of the reign of Firoz Sha . • The work was completed in 1359 AD and thus was the most important work on the Khalji period, the reign of Muhammed and a part of Firoz Sha Tughlaq . • The chief merit of the book is that, as the author held an important post in the revenue department, he was fully acquainted with revenue administration, which he has been described in details. • Although Barani knew the duties and responsibilities of a historian, he was not free from prejudice. • As a member of the court, no doubt this work is consider...
